Dear new students,
Congratulations for being admitted as new international students of Shanghai University in 2022 and starting a new stage of life and study here. Considering the current development of the pandemic, the registration for new SHU international students are hereby notified as follows:
I. Registration Schedule:
The registration for new students includes online registration and on-site registration. After completing online registration, all freshmen in China need to complete on-site registration; international students unable to come to the campus due to the epidemic could complete online registration to take courses online, but on-site registration procedures still need to be finished after entering China.

Please register on the campus according to the study location on your admission notice. Cross campus registration is not recommended;
Registration after September 5 might influence your course arrangements of fall semester;
Those who can't register on time due to epidemic situation or other personal reasons need to report in advance and apply for leave. Those who fail to apply and register for more than two weeks (after September 19) will be disqualified for admission.
II. Registration Process and Required Documents
Step 1: Online registration: confirm personal and academic information, and upload the following documents to the Current International Students Management System:

Visa page
All receipts of fee payment (if more than one receipts, please merge multiple ones to one page)
Temporary Accommodation Registration Form of Oversea students or On-campus Dormitory Registration Form
Highest degree certificate, transcripts and language proficiency certificate (same with the online application system)

Step 2: On-site Registration: students who come to registration on site should bring all original and one copy of application documents
Admission office staff review documents: check whether the materials uploaded by students are complete and consistent with online application system. If there are improper behaviors such as providing fake materials, admission qualification will be canceled;
Financial department confirms students’ tuition payment
Foreign Affairs Specialist confirms purchase of insurance
Counselors confirm the registration status of new students and inform the post-graduate students to complete the registration in their academic school.

The new students who cannot register on site also need to go through materials review and student status confirmation when they are allowed to back to the school. If there is any improper behavior such as providing fake documents, the admission will be disqualified.
III. Conditions for Campus Entry
Students who are in mainland China and officially admitted.
Students in normal prevention and control areas (counties (county-level cities, districts) without local epidemic cases) can apply to return to school, and students in Shanghai should have two nucleic acid tests within 3 days before returning to school (once within 24 hours before entering school). Students from other provinces and cities should apply for return to school with a negative nucleic acid test result within 48 hours before departure.
Warm tip: Two nucleic acid tests in three days with a 24-hour interval is required for campus entry. The results of two nucleic acid tests in three days shall be subject to the time when the report is issued. Since the reporting time of each testing agency is different, in order to ensure that students can enter the school smoothly on September 1, it is recommended that students take nucleic acid sampling once a day on August 29, August 30, and August 31.
Students who have a history of living in low-risk areas within 7 days should apply to return to school with two negative nucleic acid tests in Shanghai within 3 days.
Returning will be postponed under the following circumstances:
A. Students who come from or pass through the high-risk areas in China or the areas where the local government has declared a nationwide lockdown will be suspended from returning to school.
B. If student or person lives with him/her is a confirmed case, he/she is asymptomatic infected or his/her nucleic acid test is positive, the returning will be postponed. After being discharged from hospital or discharged from medical observation, stay-home health monitoring will be conducted for 7 days when the health code turn green. Those who meet the requirements of nucleic acid test results can apply for returning to school.
C. Close contacts and close contacts of close contacts of COVID- 19 completing quarantine observation and health monitoring management according to the relevant requirements of the city can apply for returning to school with a green health code and a negative nucleic acid test result.
D. Students who have been to medical institutions in the past 3 days, or students themselves or person lives with them have fever, cough, sore throat, hyposmia, diarrhea and other abnormal conditions within 3 days can apply for returning to school only after the symptoms disappear.
E. Students from overseas shall strictly follow the relevant national and municipal prevention and control policies after entering the country, and apply for returning to school only if they meet the requirements.
IV. Preparation Before Arrival at School
Daily Health Report: All students start self-health monitoring 14 days before returning to school, and fill in the "HealthWay -Daily Report" timely and accurately every day.
Application for campus entry: After confirming the date of arrival, students must submit the application before 17:00 at least 1 day before the arrival, in the system of “HealthWay –Campus entry and exit application during the regular Covid control period—Entry and exit application for Students”, where students have to fill in the trip information, as well as upload the screenshot of itinerary card and valid nucleic acid test results. Students approved should enter campus on the specific date in line with application, while students unapproved are not allowed to return.

V. Relevant precautions before entering school
In view of the epidemic prevention and control policy and personal safety, the university does not arrange pick-up service this year. Students can take public transportation to school. For the ways of transportation to school, please refer to Attachment 4.
Students who come to school by public transportation must keep wearing masks and take good protection during the journey.
Students who drive to school should lighten the luggage and get off at the school gate. Cars are not allowed to enter the campus, nor the accompanying personnel.
VI. Entering School
Students approved for entering campus will have a “blue code” on the specific date as applied. Suishen code, passport, admission letter, and body temperature will be examined before students can enter the campus using the “blue code” .
Students living on campus should check in at allocated dormitory reception. Suishen code, admission letter, passport and body temperature will be examined before new students with normal body temperature (below 37.3 ℃) and without other abnormalities could move into the dormitory.
The addresses of the three campuses designated gates are as follows:
Yanchang campus: West Gate, Guangyan Road Gate. No. 140 Guangyan Road.Jing'an District.
Jiading Campus: Chengzhong Road Gate. No. 20 Chengzhong Rd., Jiading District
Baoshan Campus: North Gate on No.716, Jinqiu Road, BaoShan District.
Students are required to complete 1 nucleic acid test on the day of arrival. The test could be done on campus if there is a testing arranged on that day, otherwise students should complete the test through institutions off campus. Before this test result comes out, students should wear mask scientifically and avoid socializing in public areas as much as possible.
Students from other provinces must take nucleic acid test for 7 days in a row, and are not allowed to leave campus or commuting between campuses in principle until all the results are negative.
All students on campus need to take nucleic acid tests routinely and ensure a negative result within 72 hours. The requirement of nucleic acid results may adjust in accordance with the shifting status of epidemic prevention and control.
VII.Campus management after entering the school
Students should try their best to move around in the campus area after arriving at the school, and avoid going to crowded places. They should carry spare masks with them during school, and should wear masks when moving around the school or in public spaces.
In principle, students are not allowed to leave the school while they are in school; they need to apply for approval to leave the school; if the area is overtime, they will leave the school and need to apply for approval before they can enter the school.
[Friendly reminder] Every time you enter or leave the school gate, you must swipe the card or scan the entry and exit code. Missing swiping or missing scanning will affect the normal entry and exit of the school gate.
Students who have physical abnormalities, nucleic acid or antigen detection abnormalities, etc., should report to the counselor as soon as possible, and deal with them according to the epidemic prevention and control process. Students returning to school from off-campus medical treatment should undergo at least 3-day health observation at the centralized isolation point on campus and carry out nucleic acid testing every day.
Students should abide by the school's relevant management regulations during the epidemic prevention and control period, strengthen the safety of laboratories and dormitories, etc., to ensure the safety of the campus and the personal safety of students.
If the development of the epidemic situation or the relevant work requirements of the superiors change, they will be adjusted in time.
VII. Other Important Issues
About the paper admission documents
The university has been issuing the scanned copy of official admission notice from the beginning of August. For students out of Mainland China, please contact the local Chinese embassy or consulate to obtain the entry policy, and then contact Admissions Office staff to confirm delivery information. After receiving the paper admission documents, please apply for X visa for coming to China. After arrival, please abide by the relevant national and municipal control policy strictly, and students can apply for entering school when meeting the requirements.
For new students who cannot enter the country or do not meet the conditions for campus entry, paper admission documents will not be mailed, and please adopt online learning for the time being.
About tuition fees
All self-funded new students should complete the tuition payment before 24:00 (Beijing time) of August 31, 2022. When registration online, you should upload the payment receipts of all fees (including the tuition deposit and the remaining tuition) to the online registration system (the Current International Students Management System).
Scholarship stipend
If your scholarship type includes stipend, please read the following contents:
1) Students in Mainland China
Students who register on time and participate in university courses will receive stipend normally. Since the new students need to apply for a Chinese bank card after registration, the first month stipend be received around the end of September. Therefore, please prepare one month living expense in advance (about RMB 3000 yuan).
2) Students out of Mainland China
Students who can participate in online teaching as required, keep regular study progress and pass the academic assessment shall receive the stipend after arriving at school. But the stipends during the online study period will not be issued. Those who cannot manage to participate in online learning as required can apply for one-year gap (the application deadline is September 30th, 2022).
Insurance
1) Students (including scholarship students) who are currently in China need to purchase the insurance before registration. Please log on the insurance website (http://www.lxbx.net) and keep the insurance proof. For details, please refer to Attachment 5.
2) For scholarship students who are currently in China(Chinese government scholarship, Confucius Institute Scholarship, Shanghai government scholarship), the insurance fee will be refunded to students’ bank account.
3) Students who are currently out of China do not need to purchase the insurance temporarily. They can purchase insurance when ready to enter the country.
Accommodation reservation
1) On-campus accommodation: For officially admitted students who have paid tuition deposit and are currently in China, the logistics department will make unified arrangement if accommodation is needed.
Please note:
A. Students can only arrive on the day of registration. After arriving at university, you could go to reception to check in firstly;
B. Due to the requirements of epidemic prevention and control, the dormitories on campus will be arranged by university. Students applying for on campus accommodation must abide by the relevant management and regulations;
C. On-campus dormitory reservation is not open to students out of mainland China and those who do not meet the requirements of entering school.
2) Off campus accommodation
Due to the limited numbers of rooms on campus, the university cannot guarantee all students can make reservation successfully. Students who have no reservation or unsuccessful reservation, please rent a safe and reliable place or hotel before departure.
Teaching arrangement
New students who are currently out of mainland China should be prepared for online learning. The teaching arrangement of fall semester will be notified after registration.
