Laws & Regulations

Welcome to study at Shanghai University！

As an international student, you should abide by the laws of the Chinese Government and the university rules and regulations, especially:

a. Drug use (including cannabis) is illegal;
b. Illegal publishing, association, assembly, demonstration and missionary activities are illegal;
c. Unlicensed driving and unregistered motor vehicles are illegal;
d. Expiration of visas, residency permits, and accommodation registration as well as any illegal work will be fined, detained or even required to depart within a limited period of time.

On-campus dormitory

Shanghai University can provide on campus accommodation for international students. If necessary, please log in to the pre-registration system (https://apply.applyforshu.com/pre-registration/) for reservation after obtaining the study visa and confirming the flight to China.

A.Baoshan campus

Threedormitories, Building V, Z, W, are available on Baoshan Campus. All rooms are well furnished. Our staff at each building provides 24-hour services for security and consultation.
Note: Price is subject to change due to the inflation each year. Please confirm with our logisticsdepartment.

Off-campus accommodation

Due to the limited dormitory room, Shanghai University cannot guarantee that all students make a reservation successfully. If the reservation is not successful, please find a safe and reliable rental room or hotel before arrival in Shanghai. Shanghai University will update the off-campus accommodation information in our Wechat account (study in SHU) or website (www.apply.shu.edu.cn).

A. After within 24 hours arrival in Shanghai, please download and complete “Registration Form for Living Off-Campus” which should be approved and signed by counsellor of International Students Affairs Office. And then register at local police office and get the “Registration Form for Temporary Residence”.

B. Please be noted:
a) Read items in the contract carefully before signing any contract, if you are not clear enough about the contract please do not sign it or it means you have accepted all the provisions in the contract.
b) If the contract only in Chinese version and you can not understand the provisions in the contract, you can consult our office for that. Please do not sign any contract without fully understanding the contract lest being cheated.
c) If you have any doubt about the housing agency, please consult our staff in office. Do not pay anything to the agency before signing the contract and do not believe in any oral promises of staff in housing agency.
d) After signing the contract and completing the payment, please ask for the formal invoice from housing agency.

Pick-up Service

Shanghai University provides free pick up service at Pudong International Airport within the specified date and paid pick up service at other time periods for freshmen. If necessary, please log in to the pre-registration system (https://apply.applyforshu.com/pre-registration/) for reservation after obtaining the study visa and confirming the flight to China.

Pre-registration

Guide for Online Pre-registration

All admitted new students must finish the online pre-registration and onsite official registration to secure your student status. Anyone who doesn’t finish the online registration can not register onsite.
*Important Reminder: It is recommended to complete the pre-registration after obtaining the visa to China and flight information. Once submitted, it cannot be changed.

Notes:
1)Anyone who hasn’t finish the step of “Tuition deposit payment”can not submit the online pre-registration. For self-paid students, please complete the tuition deposit payment; For scholarship students, you do not need to pay the deposit fee, but have to upload the screenshot of the scholarship confirmation email in the application system. If the payment or uploading is not completed after 20 days, it would be regarded as giving up.
2)The email and password of the pre-registration should be the same with the application system. For any questions, please contact the program coordinator.

After arrival, please bring the required documents to do the formal registration according to the Admission Letter.
