Application Guide for International Foundation Program (BA of Chinese Language and Chinese International Education 2025 Spring) Shanghai University
一、 项目介绍Program Introduction
为满足国际学生在汉语言知识与技能、文化感知与实践以及跨文化交际能力等方面达到进入我校汉语言、汉语国际教育本科专业学习的入学标准，并且能够更好地适应在华学习和生活，我校面向国际学生开设预科项目。
每年春季入学（18周），申请时汉语水平须达到HSK3级180分及以上。6月预科顺利结业且汉语水平达到HSK4级180分以上，可于9月申请进入国际教育学院汉语言本科或者汉语国际教育专业学习；
The international foundation program is designed for international students who are interested in the BA programs of Chinese Language and Chinese International Education, but have not yet met the entry requirements of BA Programs. The Program aims to improve students’ Chinese language knowledge and skills, cultural perception and practice, and cross-cultural communication skills.
For admission in spring each year (a duration of 18 weeks), applicants must have a score of 180 or above in HSK3 when applying. Students who pass HSK 4 with a score of 180 or above, can apply to be admitted to the BA program of Chinese Language or Chinese International Education in College of International Education in September after successful completion of the International Foundation Program (IFP).
二、 申请资格Eligibility
年龄18周岁以上，高中毕业及以上学历，成绩良好，身心健康，持有外国有效普通护照(护照有效期需超过一年)。（在入学报到前不可更新护照，以免原电子证照失效。）
Over 18 years old, in good health physically and mentally, with a valid ordinary foreign passport(validity of the passport should be over a year). High school diploma or above with good academic records.（Applicants are advised not to renew their passport before enrolment to avoid invalidating their documents.）

四、 课程和学时 Courses and Class Hours
1. 课程设置 Courses
预科阶段主要开设语言类、文化类、实践类三种类型课程。
语言类课程包括：汉语综合、汉语听说、汉字专题、HSK辅导等；
文化类课程包括：中国文化专题讲座、诗歌朗诵、汉字文化等；
实践类课程包括：语言实践、文化感知与实践、升学指导、选课指导等；
The foundation program mainly consists of three types of courses: language and academic skills courses, cultural courses and practical courses.
Language and academic skills courses: Comprehensive Chinese, Chinese Listening and Speaking, Chinese Characters, HSK training, etc;
Cultural courses: Special Lectures on Chinese Culture, Poetry Recitation, Chinese Characters Culture, etc;
Practical courses: Chinese Language Practice, Cultural practice, Guidance for BA program admission & course selection, etc.
2. 学时安排 Class Hours
每周24课时，总共18周24 hours a week, for 18 weeks in total.
3. 本科课程免修Exemption of BA courses
诗歌朗诵、汉字文化等部分课程，如学习质量和成绩满足上海大学相关规定，可申请本科学习阶段相应课程的免修；如预科阶段汉语水平达到HSK5级180分及以上，可按规定申请免修本科阶段的中级汉语系列课程（≥39学分）。
Graduates of IFPs who perform well with good academic grades can apply for the exemption of some courses in the BA program according to SHU regulations, such as the courses of poetry recitation, Chinese characters culture etc. Graduates of IFP who pass HSK 5 with a score of 180 or above can apply for the exemption of Intermediate Chinese Courses in the BA programs according to SHU regulations(≥39 credits).
五、 结业要求Completion Requirements
学生完成预科阶段全部课程的学习，经测试测查成绩达到合格及以上，且在学期间严格遵守中国法律及学校规章，即可申请结业。如学习结束时未达到结业要求，可以继续申请进入下一期学习，学费按当年招生简章要求缴纳。
Students who have taken and passed all courses in the foundation program, and adhered to the laws and regulations in China and university can apply for completion of the program. Students who do not meet the completion requirements may continue to apply for the next program self-paid.
六、 申请办法 How to apply
1. 登录https://apply.shu.edu.cn，进入留学上大网上申请系统；
Log onto the following link https://apply.shu.edu.cn and enter the online application system of "Study at SHU" for international students;
1. 选择 “非学历项目”——“预科项目（一学期）”；
Select “International Foundation Program (One Semester)” under “Non-degree program”;
2. 上传所需材料；填写个人信息时需与护照信息页一致，证件照像素需大于295*413，文件大小不超过200KB。
Upload the required materials. Please make sure that the personal information filled out in the online application system is consistent with those on the passport information page. The pixels of the ID photo should be larger than 295*413, and the size should not exceed 200kb.
3. 提交申请，等待审核，然后在线支付报名费；请在初审确认后两周内完成报名费支付，逾期将不再受理申请。
Submit the application, wait for review and then pay application fee. Please complete payment of application fee within two weeks after passing the preliminary review. If the payment is overdue, the application will not be further processed.
4. 等待录取结果。如收到录取通知提醒邮件，请支付一半或全额学费，并把支付凭证上传至网申系统“已预付学费”一栏。学校会发放正式录取材料。
Wait for the admission result. Please pay half or full tuition fee after receiving the admission notice reminder email and upload the "Proof of Tuition Payment" (photos of bank transfer receipts or screenshots of the transfer) to the "Paid Tuition Fee" section in the online application system.Then the official admission documents would be sent by email. 七、申请材料Application Materials

注意： 1.非中文或英文的文件，需附公证或发证单位的中/英文翻译件；
2.以上材料申请时仅需要上传扫描件，开学报到时需提供原件备查。

Notes: 1. Documents not in Chinese or English should be accompanied with Chinese or English translations from notaries or issuing department.
2.Scanned copies are needed during application (You are highly recommended to upload colored copies), and the original documents need to be provided upon registration.

九、 奖学金 Scholarships
1. 预科阶段Scholarships for International Foundation Program
预科阶段按时结业并成功申请上海大学本科专业者，根据学业成绩和总体表现，可申请我校学费部分减免的预科专项奖学金。奖学金申请标准和具体内容如下：
Applicants who complete IFP on time and succeed in applying for BA programs of Shanghai University are eligible to apply for IFP special scholarship with partial reduction of tuition fees based on their academic achievement and overall performance. Details of the scholarship are as follows:
2. 本科阶段Scholarships for Undergraduate Program
预科阶段成绩优异的学生，可申请我校学费减免的新生奖学金。奖学金申请标准和具体内容如下：
Students with excellent performance in IFP are eligible to apply for Freshman scholarship with tuition fee exemption for Bachelor’s program. Details are as below:
*学位阶段，入学第二年所有奖学金生须参加校奖学金年度评审。通过年度评审者才能获得下一年度的奖学金资格。During degree programs, all scholarship students are required to participate in the annual evaluation of the university scholarship. Only those who pass the annual review are qualified for the next year’s scholarship.
十、 住宿信息Accommodation
上海大学国际学生宿舍所有房间均配备了床铺、书桌、衣柜、空调、网络、24小时热水、卫生间等，公共区域配备有自助刷卡式洗衣机、烘干机、热水间、公共厨房等。所有住宿楼都配备烟雾报警、厨房温控报警、监控设备等。
延长校区收费标准如下：（*因物价及汇率的波动，收费价格可能有所变化，具体情况请咨询招生办公室及后勤部门有关负责人）。学生可以选择校内宿舍，后勤公寓办进行审核。因校内住宿资源有限，如未能选到合适的房型，请学生自行校外安排住宿。
Shanghai University provides on-campus accommodation for international students. All rooms in the residence hall are equipped with beds, desks, closet, air-conditioner, internet, 24-hour hot water, toilets, etc. Public areas are equipped with self-service washing machine, dryer, hot water machine, public kitchen, and so on. All residence halls are equipped with smoke alarm, kitchen temperature control alarm, monitoring equipment and so on.
The fee standards in Yanchang Campus are as follows: (Due to fluctuations of commodity price and exchange rate, the pricing may change. Please contact the relevant person in charge in the admissions office or the logistics department for specific details.) Students can choose on-campus accommodation, and the Housing Office of the Logistics Department will review the applications. Due to limited accommodation resources on campus, if students fail to choose a suitable dorm type, they can also choose to live off-campus.

十一、 签证及保险 Visa & Insurance
1. 签证事宜About Visa
学生须持上海大学发放的《录取通知书》及《外国留学生来华签证申请表》(DQ/JW202表)前往中国大使馆或领事馆办理入境签证手续。正式的录取通知书需加盖学校公章，未加盖学校公章的预录取通知书不能用于签证的申请。请注意签证的有效期，通常可在报到日前一到两日入境，不要过早入境，以免签证过期，影响学习。Students are required to go to the Chinese Embassy or Consulate for visa application with the " Admission Notice" issued by Shanghai University and the "Application Form for Visa for Foreign Students to China" (DQ/JW202 form). An official admission notice is with a Shanghai University stamp. The pre-admission notice without a stamp is invalid for visa application. Students are advised to enter China one or two days before the registration date. Early entry might cause early visa expiration and could affect student’s study.

十二、 补充说明Other information
原则上每班最低开班人数为15人。
上海大学保留预科项目有关政策的最终解释权。
Classes are open for minimum 15 students.
Shanghai University reserves the final right of explanation of relevant policies concerning the international foundation program.
